RESPONSE TO QUESTION ON READING AND WRITING.
How will your department members have students read, write and discuss a topic or activity related to a lesson each day?
Teachers in 8th Grade Technology will use sponge activities to read, write, and discuss topics.
Evidence of Completion: students came into class and worked on the activities that were posted on the smart board.
Identify one of the four guiding principles that your department will focus on for the next ten weeks?
(2) To provide instruction embedded in authentic experiences. (Give tools that will assist in real life). EVIDENCE OF COMPLETITION: The students in technology class were given hands-on problem solving experience activities that will aid them. They were introduced to designing and the systems of technology to help aid the students in authentic assessment.
How will your department members demonstrate a literacy rich classroom (Refer to the checklist in your packet).
Quality of Student Work Displayed. EVIDENCE OF COMPLETITION: Students in technology education completed several activities (such as Transportation Timelines and Lab Volt Presentations) that were displayed in the classroom for all students to enjoy.
What three RWAC strategies will your department use on a consistent basis to ensure reading comprehension skills are being taught?

EVIDENCE OF COMPLETITION: Students viewed word walls that were made for technology education and posted before the start of each new lesson. Students participated in popcorn review before each lab volt exam. Finally, students used reciprocal teaching during lessons that are not associated with Lab Volt.

How will you check for writing quality (e.g., spelling, punctuation, and agreement of subject and verb, control of verb tenses)? Proofreading, editing, and revision should be expected.
Peer grading and Content Rubrics. EVIDENCE OF COMPLEITION: The students completed series activities in which they graded each others essays. The teacher double checked the grading of the students.
